Cancún is
situated in the state of Quintana Roo on the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán
Peninsula, a seal-head shaped land mass that stares longingly towards Cuba
from Guatemala and Belize. Cancún is on the northeastern tip of the Peninsula,
fronted by Bahía de Mujeres (Bay of Women), the Caribbean Sea and two lagoons.
Cancun belongs to the famous Riviera Maya (150,000 km of seaside) whose
main attribute
is its diversity that includes smoth sand beaches, green forests,
archaeological sites, ecological reserves, thematic parks, colorful towns,
and many other tourist developments.
Here you can choose from
skydiving to golf and tennis tournaments, jungle tours by foot or on horse, a
great variety of water sports, the astonishing Mayan culture through the many
indigenous communities and the archaeological treasures of the Mayan world. Rain
forests, jungle, flora and fauna, ancient Mayan cities, virgen beaches,
turquoise waters, the fantasy and warmth of the tropics and the mystery of a
legendary culture living in its people today, are only a few of the
characteristics that make Riviera Maya a favorite destiny worldwide.
